Canada’s national anthem may be getting a rewrite.
With the wage gap showing no signs of narrowing, a Liberal MP is chasing symbolic equality by replacing the line “all thy sons,” with the more inclusive, “all of us.”
He’s been branded a politically correct zealot but he’s not advocating a change, rather a change back.
The line “all thy sons” was inserted in 1913, possibly as a gesture to the women’s suffrage movement. Changing the song wouldn’t raze heritage, it would lower a middle finger.
