An elderly couple was treated for smoke inhalation after a basement fire erupted in a Lynn Valley home Friday morning.
Firefighters arrived at the 1500 block of Dovercourt Rd. and found heavy smoke belching out of the back of a two-storey house and a couple who were worried their son might be inside, according to District of North Vancouver assistant fire chief Chad Laforet.
The crews knocked down the blaze shortly after 8 a.m. and scoured the house but found no one inside.
The couple was treated at the scene.
“They seemed to be OK after that,” Laforet said.
Aside from the smoke inhalation, no one was injured in the fire, according to Laforet. The house was severly damaged.
Fire investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the blaze.
