Hot deal: You can fly from Vancouver to Hawaii and Australia for half price

Save hundreds of dollars by adding a stop in a paradise.

Flights from Vancouver to Hawaii can make a trip to Australia cost less - and travellers can enjoy two world-class destinations.

Adding a stopover makes some itineraries more expensive while others include them for free. However, booking a flight from Vancouver to Hawaii and then a second one to Australia can take a significant chunk of change off the price tag — try several hundred dollars off the cost of a return ticket.

According to Google Flights, the least expensive round-trip flights from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Sydney International Airport (SYD) typically cost usually cost between $1,550 and $2,700.

While a ticket under $1,500 might be a great deal for travellers headed to the other side of the globe, buying two tickets — with one heading to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) — allows them to save significantly more.
